Environmental Working Group Consumer Guides
The Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) mission is to empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment. Do you know what's in your tap water? What about your shampoo? What’s lurking in the cleaners underneath your sink? What pesticides are on your food? How about the farms, fracking wells and factories in your local area? Do you know what safeguards they use to protect your water, soil, air and your kids? Which large agribusinesses get your tax dollars and why? What are GMOs? What do they do to our land and water?
They do the research so you don't have to.
Consumer Guides:
Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce: Dirty-Dozen
Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce: Clean Fifteen
Shopper's Guide to avoiding GMOs
Pantry Staples
I highly recommend purchasing your groceries from a local store or farmer (support local!).
But, the following items may be hard to find in store or more reasonably priced online.
Nutritional Yeast or "Nooch"
Yes, this is a staple in my house. Non-GMO, contains vitamin B-12. It can be hard to find inexpensive nooch at your local grocery store.

Reusable Glass Spice Bottles
Buying new spice bottles every time you run out is expensive and it can be wasteful. Purchase these glass spice bottles one time and refill your herbs and spices at your local 'healthy" grocery store. This will save you a lot of money in the long run and it will encourage you to cook more at home. Spices and herbs are loaded with antioxidants!

Household and Personal Care
When it comes to living a healthier lifestyle, what you put on your body is just as significant as what you put in your body. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and since it is porous, it absorbs whatever you put on it. The majority of mainstream body care products contain a cocktail of carcinogenic chemicals, allergens, and irritants. Make the easy switch today and your body will thank you later.
Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap

To learn how to prepare the soap for 18 different applications, use this dilution cheat sheet.

Natural Deodorant
I have tried brand after brand and there are only two products that I will recommend at the mome: Primal Pit Paste and PiperWai (more expensive but lasts a long time).
Aluminum free, paragon free, toxin free, chemical free, and propylene-glycol free.
Waring: switching to a natural deodorant may take some time to get used to but it is worth it.

Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filtration System
How safe is your drinking water?
The first thing we did when we moved into our new home was purchased a reverse osmosis filtration system. After doing our research we purchased the iSpring 5-Stage System and 1-year Filter Replacement Set. The only downfall to a reverse osmosis filtration system is that is filters everything: including the impurities, chemicals, harmful minerals, and beneficial minerals. I highly recommend purchasing Trace Mineral Drops to put those beneficial minerals back into your water.
